Welcome to Emmanuel, Soest!
Services are Thursday at 7:00pm and Sunday at 8:00 and 10:00am. The 10:00am service is livestreamed via our Facebook page (see below). Sunday School for age 3 – 8th grade and Adult Bible Class are held between services.
Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Soest, has been serving southeast Allen County Lutherans since 1845 through the preaching of God’s Word and the administration of His Sacraments. Emmanuel is a member congregation of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, the largest confessional Lutheran church body in America. We are a confessional, creedal, sacramental, and biblical church, and we welcome you to worship with us.
If you’re not sure what those words in the last sentence mean, a quick primer:
- Confessional: We believe, teach, and confess the faith as described in the Lutheran Confessions, laid out in the Book of Concord of 1580.
- Creedal: We get the word “creed” from the Latin “credo”, meaning “I believe”. We hold to the three ecumenical creeds believed by all Christians across time and space, namely The Apostle’s Creed, The Nicene Creed, and The Athanasian Creed.
- Sacramental: We rejoice in God’s gift of his sacraments of Holy Baptism and Holy Communion, which He has commanded us to observe and promised to attach His saving grace.
- Biblical: We believe that the Bible is God’s inspired word and is the only infallible source of authority for the Church.
